John Kowalski lives in Beaver, Pennsylvania, where he has been married for 47 years and is the proud father of three children and grandfather to six grandchildren. He grew up in New Kensington, Pennsylvania, and learned the value of hard work at an early age. While attending college, John worked at a local steel mill to help pay for his education—an experience that shaped his strong work ethic and lifelong commitment to responsibility and safety.
John holds a degree in Nuclear Engineering from Penn State University and is a Certified Safety Professional. He dedicated his entire 45-year career to the field of safety, gaining deep and wide-ranging experience across multiple industries. His professional background includes 10 years in Nuclear Safety, 15 years in Industrial Safety, and 20 years focused on Human and Organizational Performance.
Throughout his career, John held leadership and safety roles at electric power generation facilities, including nuclear, coal, oil, gas, and hydroelectric plants. His work placed him at the center of complex operations where safety, performance, and human factors were critical to success. More recently, he has provided expert guidance to well-known organizations such as Elliott Company, a global metal manufacturing company, Long Ridge Gas Power Generation, Duke Florida Power, and Giant Eagle, a regional grocery chain.
John is widely recognized as a subject-matter expert in safety management, human performance, and organizational improvement. Building on decades of experience, he recently founded his own company, Safety Performance, where he now provides consulting services to a large global metal manufacturing organization. His work continues to focus on improving workplace safety, strengthening leadership practices, and creating cultures that prioritize both people and performance.
Outside of his professional career, John has remained deeply involved in his community. He has coached girls’ softball at levels ranging from tournament teams to college athletics, mentoring young athletes and supporting their growth both on and off the field. He also served as a Safety Officer with the local fire department and as the Emergency Management Coordinator for Beaver Borough, roles that reflect his lifelong dedication to public safety and service.
